I Derek Stone, the new owner of David Patton Homes, am a father of 2 boys and a husband of 21 years to my wife Crystal. I have an Associate of Science Degree in Business Marketing and Management. I am a published author and an entrepreneur who had four unsuccessful business ventures before I was able to scale my fifth business venture, which just so happened to be a construction company. The success of that company allowed me to retire at the young age of 37. While taking some time off, I asked myself what I’ve always wanted to do. The answer was to build fine luxury homes. That’s why I chose to buy David Patton Construction. Because my previous failures taught me that if you want to be the best, you have to learn from the best.

Building in the Nashville market for over 15 years and spending the last four years under David’s mentorship has taught me what I feel is a lifetime of knowledge. Building experiences of how he does things, everything from water infiltrations to colluvial soil. He runs his own test on certain wood products to see how they perform in water. He refuses to use some brands of windows. All in all, I won’t lie; it has been a tough four years, but I’m not the same person I was four years ago. I’m more patient, more detailed, and more understanding of the client’s passion for their home, and that my role is not just building their dream but also to educate the client and guide them along this journey.
